The weekend before Halloween I was in the Des Moines area for a meeting and got to spend some time with my family. On Friday evening we went to the Blank Park Zoo and to "Night Eyes." What a cool event. It's Halloween "merry not scary" for the little ones (and the big ones too if you want to carry your treat bag). Barb and I met Jim, Mandy & Charlotte around 6:30. Barb and I got rock star parking so waited on a bench outside the zoo and just did some people watching. There sure were a bunch of kids in cute outfits!!! It was fun just watching!!
Charlotte was a darling Raggedy Ann. Even had the red wig.
She's already to go collect her treats.
We're off!
Such a little doll!
Such a little doll!
I even got into the act. Barb insisted I take my cane (ugh) but I did and here we are walking our way from one tent to another collecting candy!
The King of the Beasts was out walking around. After dark even! It was kinda cool seeing him and the ladies out walking.
The snow leopard appeared! Cool eyes, huh??
And a tiger! How cool is that. Jim took a lot of pictures of other animals but I've never seen them yet. He had a good time with the camera.
"Trick or Treat"
We found the play area near the end of our walk and Charlotte enjoyed the swing set.
Got our treat, now onto the next stop!
The family out on "Nights Eyes"
Great family shot. Everybody was happy!
We love to swing!
"Night Eyes"
It was really fun. When we got there Clifford the Big Red Dog was there to greet everyone. Charlotte was a little shy and didn't want a whole lot to do with him. Barb gave him a high-five but we just couldn't talk her into it. As we went along she became more and more ready to participate and was finally looking for Clifford. When we got to the end of the walk we looked for him but he had gone home for the night.
It was a weekend we celebrated my birthday. My children took me out for supper that night. It was a great ma & pop Italian place. Food was good and Charolotte had a ball eating her pasta. I wished we'd have gotten a picture of her . . . she couldn't get the pasta cut up so she could use her fork she finally just stuffed it into her mouth. She had a great time and had a lot to eat!! When she was finished she told her Mom, held out her hands to be cleaned and was ready to go onto to something else. What a kid!!! Gotta love her! And I do very, very much!
That was our Night Eyes. I had a great time and would be happy to go again on another year.
Happy Halloween!
